I was diagnosed with stage IIA lower esophageal cancer in late November 2015, I went through six weeks of chemotherapy which included 28 radiation treatments at the same time. I had a six week rest and then surgery March 21, 2016. My surgery was done on the da Vinci robot I was in surgery 8 1/2 hours. Then I was in ICU for nine days on the seventh day they did a swallow test I passed. The last two days I was on a liquid diet. I had my feeding tube taken out after five weeks and now I have transitioned to solid food. I feel like I'm doing well I'm just relearning how to eat how much and what kind of food works well. I think this is the biggest challenge for all of us is eating after the surgery.
