I was diagosed with Stage 3 EC in January 2001, had 4 sessions of chemo, no radtiation and then Ivor Lewis surgery on July 3, 2001. Restaged to Stage 2B after surgery as no lymph nodes involved. My surgery was performed By Dr Donald Low at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle Washington. I would highly recommend him to anyone with EC requiring surgery. In the past 12 years I as many have digestive problems, i.e., dumping, bile reflux, and slow stomach emptying. In addition I have suffered from Neuropathy in my feet and fingers caused by a Platin based chemo administered during pre-op chemo. I had no post op chemo. I have had 3 endiscopys over the 12 years since surgery, each time because of digestive problems. I also have had numerous CT scans but have never received a PET scan. I have have led what I called a modified normal life since surgery. Modified in the number of meals and quantity of food I can eat at one sitting. I also have to sleep on a 7" wedge at night to hold bile reflux at bay. I also have had to greatly reduce the amounts of fats, sugars and hot spices. It's been great to be alive though.
