I was diagnosed when I was 68 at stage 2 in Jan. 2008 Went through chemo, radiation and Ivor-Lewis surgery. Chemo was very difficult for me but the worst effect I had was that I went into a major bio-chemical depression that lasted 11 months. We believe it was triggered by Reglan, In May 2009, I was back to myself (mentally) after spending quite a bit of time in the hospital. I was doing so well I gave a speech about cancer and depression to 300 cancer survivors. I went back to consulting, teaching teachers all over the US. Today, I have been NED for the last 5 years. I am coming up on my bi-annual visit with my Oncologist so, I am feeling "scanxious".I am back to walking 1-2 miles almost daily. Last summer (2012) my husband & I moved from NJ to Portland, Or to be near my son, who lives in Portland and my other son who lives in San Francisco. It was really difficult for all of us being so far apart when I was sick. I still have some issues regarding eating but nothing I can't deal with even if I get frustrated because I can eat something one day and be fine. The next day, not so fine. I am loving life, enjoying my good fortune, and not worrying about what may come down the road.
