diagnosed stage VI on March 10th 2012 with mets to several lymph nodes and three spots in the liver. Had 10 days of radiation before seeing the medical oncologist who gave me three months to live or 8 months "if I wanted to try the treatment". I had lost 70 pounds between February and May, I did not have any trouble swallowing but could not keep anything down and if I had a particularly bad reaction I could spend 2 or 3 hours over the sink spitting up stomach acid (but no food!!). After the radiation and the first chemo, which was ECX, I was able to eat normally again and by Christmas I was down to just one tiny pinprick in the liver. In February 2013 I was rushed into ICU with what turned out to be streptococcal pneumonia and my blood pressure was 50/30. At this point, which was midnight on a Saturday, I was given 15 minutes before i went into coma or worse! Sunday morning I was sat up eating my breakfast!. As I missed three treatments during this time the next scan in March showed that the tiny spot in the liver had grown again so back on the ECX. Unfortunately this didn't work and the tumour was still growing. Now on Irotinecan and have another scan on 13th September?
