An Englishman living on Australia's Sunshine Coast. I moved up here in 2012, from Sydney, my home for the past 30 years, to be with Samantha, my true love and my caregiver since the beast arrived unexpectedly last year. Finance has been my career, both as a broker and as a writer...whilst golf and rugby have been my sporting passions. My cancer was picked up by chance, when I consulted my doctor feeling exhausted. I thought this was a repeat of an earlier heart problem, but it turned out to be anaemia. An endoscopy to check its cause found my tumour...which turned out to be S3N1M0. This was in September 2013. Chemo started almost immediately - cisplatin and 5Fu - with surgery in late January 2014. A further 9 weeks of chemo has seen me complete my treatment regime, feeling fine though a fair bit lighter - I was 85 kg at surgery...four months later I'm weighing in at 72 kg. Will the beast return? Who knows...I'm taking the view that life goes on so I'll make sure I enjoy it to the maximum. I've got a partner and two children I love and have been blessed this past year with my first grandchild. Life? It's grand!
