Help us grow

Your interest in esophageal cancer is important to us. We need your support, whether that be a donation, volunteering, outreach or simple interest.

Helping the ECAA

The ECAA is an all-volunteer organization derived from the EC community of patients, caregivers, family and friends. The work we have done has been handled thus far by a dedicated team comprising the ECAA's board members.

Important support has come from members, those wishing to honor the memory of those who fell to EC, and, increasingly, the growing number of survivors. To move ahead by increasing awareness of issues of survivorship and quality of life, more people and more resources must be engaged in the effort.

The EC community is sparse in the USA, but enormous throughout the world, where EC may be the leading cause of death in parts of Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Through the facility of the Internet we can cooperate with patients and medical organizations around the world.

We need your help!

Sponsoring

ECAA accepts tax deductable donations as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.

Sponsorships are actively welcomed for events, such as Board training and strategic planning meetings, support for participation in major research conferences (AACR, ASCO, DDW), and the up-coming Annual Meeting, in order to defray member costs for meals, facilities, etc.

As a nonprofit organization:

  • ECAA is prohibited from accepting donations that are predicated by any commercial advantages to sponsoring organizations.
  • ECAA avoids any commercial bias in its relationships and activities.

Contributing

There are many opportunities to support the work of the ECAA. We have prepared information on almost every form of contribution, from personal bequests, to workplace matching funds. For more information see:

Volunteering

We're guessing that you're here because you, or someone close to you has been affected by this disease.

We want to have involved members, where possible, knowing full well the problem that poses for many. So we are going to have various committees working in cyberspace, rather than in the local church basement or lodge hall.

If you have interests in publications, education, or communication, or want to work in development (fund raising), governmental liaison (lobbying is limited, but vital), scientific advisors, or web support, send us a short statement of interest and summary of your experience.

All we're asking you is to tell us who you are. This is so that we may contact you in the future when we have detailed methods for accomplishing our mission.

In return, your privacy will be respected and your information will never be shared with any other party, except as required by law and by your knowledge and consent in advance. Your privacy is as important to us as it is to you.

Membership

A major way that you can help is through membership dues. These not only help to pay for ECAA activities, but also show future sponsors that you believe strongly enough to vote positively with your pocket book. Yearly ECAA membership is $25.00 (single membership) or $30.00 (husband & wife OR patient & caregiver). This is tax-deductible and essential to our mission.

Email our treasurer, Amy Schoener , for information about joining us.

A membership form is available for download here if you would rather send in a check by mail.
